"The Dot" Exploration

This lesson centered around the quotes by children's book author Peter H. Reynolds, "make your mark and see where it takes you," and “what makes you different is what makes you special," by Pharrell Williams. Students discussed individuality, uniqueness, and mark making. They practiced various ways to express their individuality through mark making and exploration of materials. Students were challenged to overcome their insecurities about creating art by making their own mark (a dot), exploring with different art mediums. Once everyone finished their personal creations, the students collaborated to design one large artwork to display proudly on the wall.
