I am a visual artist and owner of Luca Studio & Gallery in Fort Mill, SC where I connect art with the community by exhibiting works of various local artists and teaching small group workshops. I enjoy a variety of art and design styles. However, it's evident that I naturally gravitates towards expression, bold colors, mark-making, and discovery, often working in acrylics, pastels, and pen. While expressive portraits were a staple subject of my work, more recently I have been inspired to convey the moments of serenity and awe experienced in nature. I'm drawn towards subjects that capture a moment or feeling even if they do it in an obscure way or simply pull from a memory. My processes continue to shift between impressionistic, detailed works which focus on color and light and abstract expressive works which convey emotion through repetition, line, and color theory.
I spent the first part of my creative journey as a graphic designer and high school art educator. I earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Ball State University and MAT in K-12 Art Education from Winthrop University.
